DGLR-Virtual International Group

In future, the "Virtual International Group" will be the English-language meeting place for international DGLR members in the aerospace sector. The group is primarily open to foreign members who are working or studying in Germany, but also to members who are studying or working in other countries abroad. Of course all members are welcome to join.

We cordially invite you to join our upcoming online-seminar.

Space Licensing for Commercial NewSpace in Europe:
Insights from HyImpulse's Launch Licensing Manager Paola Breda

Monday, 24th June 2024, 18:00 CEST

Germany's landscape for commercial micro launchers has shown significant milestones in 2024. Only in May this year, HyImpulse celebrated the maiden launch of their technology demonstrator SR75 in Australia, Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) conducted the first hot-fire test of their first stage in SaxaVord (UK) and Isar Aerospace announced the establishment of their new company quarters near Munich.  Regulatory processes for space activities in Europe and worldwide, whether for engine testing or for(sub)orbital flights, are trying to keep up the pace to answer the needs of the NewSpace industry. Based on hands-on experience maturated within HyImpulse, this talk presents several challenges associated to space licensing in the European context. As an engineer to engineers (and beyond), how can we understand and integrate licensing requirements into our R&D roadmaps at best?

Speaker: Paola Breda,
Project Manager and Launch Licensing Manager at HyImpulse

Paola Breda is Project Manager and Launch Licensing Manager at HyImpulse. She is managing the space licenses and their stakeholder engagement for the company products since 2022 and contributed to securing the flight permit under the Air Navigation Order in the UK in July 2023, as well as the Australian High Power Rocket Permit in May 2024. She managed logistics and operations for the launch campaign of HyImpulse. She has a PhD in Engineering in combustion modelling from the Bundeswehr University of Munich (2021) and has 5+ years experience in software engineering.
