Online-Vortrag: Future constellations and their impact on the space debris environment
Referent: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Enrico Stoll, Chair of Space Technology TU Berlin
Currently, satellite constellations are being developed to serve new applications such as internet connectivity, earth observation, and navigation. These constellations are typically composed of a large number of small, low-cost satellites that are launched into low Earth orbit. The increased number of satellites in orbit has the potential to create a significant amount of space debris, which can pose a threat to other spacecraft. This talk provides an overview of the potential applications of these constellations, as well as strategies for mitigating the creation of space debris, and an innovative option for active debris removal.
