Title:
Noise-Related Impacts of On-Demand Air Taxi Operations with Conventional Small Aircraft at German Airfields
Lärmbedingte Auswirkungen des On-Demand Lufttaxibetriebs mit konventionellen Kleinflugzeugen an deutschen Flugplätzen
Abstract:
This work enables the analysis of the noise-related impacts of air taxi operations using small aircraft, employing an iterative methodology. Current aircraft noise regulations and preliminary work on noise modeling for air taxi operations were considered. The aim of these investigations was to identify operating scenarios for air taxi services that reduce the noise-related impacts on residents to a tolerable level (according to the German Air Traffic Noise Act). The results show that continuous air taxi operations can be carried out during daytime hours with 40-50 flight movements per hour. Thus, a significant basis for air taxi operations exists. However, to reduce the noise-related impacts to a tolerable level, demand scenarios and flight route usage frequencies must be reduced, and flight route designs must be adapted. The resulting noise protection zones include existing residential areas. Due to the noise-related impacts of air taxi operations, homeowners and property owners are entitled to reimbursements and compensation.
